Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
ARRIVES 9:00am – DEPARTS 4:00 PM

A visit to Dominica promises to be unlike any other stop on your itinerary. Prepare to slow down, take in the scenery, breathe fresh air, sample fruit right off the trees and experience nature in a way unique to few places on earth.

This “Nature Island” measures 29 miles long by 16 miles wide and encompasses about 290 square miles of untamed rain forest; dense, lush vegetation; waterfalls; freshwater pools and bubbling hot springs, heated by the active underwater volcanoes surrounding the island. Much of the interior can only be reached on foot.

It’s easy to see why producers selected Dominica as a backdrop for two sequels in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. As you drive the coastline on roads hacked out of the mountainside, jagged edges plunge into the ocean, as mango trees and ginger root cascade down into the sea.

Once off the ship, head inland to visit the island’s impressive national parks or into the water to spot plentiful sea life. Dominica ranks as one of the top sites for scuba-diving in the Caribbean. Its beaches are mostly rocky.

St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
ARRIVES 11:00am – DEPARTS 7:00 PM

By exploring St. Thomas’ quieter, more undiscovered side — a lovely historic district, trips to Water Island (the “fourth” and youngest, U.S. Virgin Island), beaches all over the island and fabulous restaurants in Frenchtown. It’s also an easy jaunt via 20-minute ferry to tranquil St. John from the town of Red Hook. Even this town has local character (this is where expat residents of St. Thomas spend their time) that’s a far cry from Charlotte Amalie’s shopping mall vibe. Just taking transportation to the eastern end of the island will give you distance from the hectic pier.

Even if it’s your first time on St. Thomas, don’t be afraid to explore. Although locals drive on the left side of the road, the island has an American familiarity that makes it a perfect introduction to the Caribbean style of life. Attractions, beaches, shopping, golf, water sports — the island offers a wide variety of activities, with new ones added every year. Even if it’s your tenth trip, you’re bound to find something fun to do, even if that just means discovering a new beach.

DAY 5 FEBRUARY 7 (Wednesday)
Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Arrives 6:00 AM – Departs 2:00 PM

Tortola is one of the most scenic islands in the Eastern Caribbean. It’s also the largest as well as the central most point of the British Virgin Islands. Tortola has many gorgeous blue vistas, verdant hills, and powdery white sandy beaches.

Located at the center of the island is Tortola’s capital city, Road Town. A city nestled on the hills surrounding a beautiful harbor. Just like many Caribbean islands, you can go shopping in those quaint market streets like Main Street. Where you can get authentic island crafts and souvenirs. Or go sightseeing along the beautiful streets lined with brightly colored British colonial houses.

Tortola features a dramatic landscape made up of lush mountains. Discover inaccessible areas on a 4×4 adventure. Tortola has plenty of spectacular snorkeling spots. But none like treasure point caves. Enjoy treasure tales and even better snorkeling at these majestic caves at the bight in Norman Island.
