2019 Freethought Cruise

With Matt Dillahunty

March 21-25, 2019
4-Nights to Havana, Cuba & the Bahamas
Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

DAY 1 MARCH 21 (Thursday)
Port Everglades

Welcome aboard the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas! Watch the sun rise above the Atlantic horizon on a morning walk along the Fort Lauderdale Beach promenade. Then grab breakfast by the water— you have plenty of spots to choose from, after all this “Venice of America” is home to more than 300 miles of waterways.

Las Olas Boulevard, nestled next door to downtown, is the entertainment core of Fort Lauderdale. It has a mile of upscale shops and al fresco dining that runs past high-rises and into the RiverWalk, where you can cruise with the free water trolley.

DAY 2 MARCH 22 (Friday)
Havana, Cuba
ARRIVES 9:00am – DEPARTS 8:00 PM

Schedule an excursion to wander along spiraling walkways past fountains and sculptures covered in vibrant mosaic tiles in Jaimanitas, a district just west of central Havana. Artist Jose Fuster has transformed this suburban neighborhood into a Gaudí-esque wonderland of realism, modernism, and Cuban style.

Excursions in classic American cars  offering scenic rides along the waterfront in a classic American car are another great way to see the island.

Take a tour that strolls through the plazas of Habana Vieja, where you can visit cigar factories, sip “agua de coco” and browse colorful stands selling antiques and memorabilia— all while soaking up the intriguing sights and sounds of this six-hundred-year-old slice of Havana.

DAY 3 MARCH 23 (Saturday)
At Sea

Matt Dillahunty will give a presentation while we are underway. And we might get lucky and see some ‘magic’!

Read more about Matt on the speaker page. After the talk, head up to the pool, chat with fellow freethinkers over a cocktail, join in on karaoke, or enjoy the many other on board activities. Check out all of those on the ship page.

DAY 4 MARCH 24 (Sunday)
Nassau, Bahamas
ARRIVES 7:00am – DEPARTS 6:00 PM

Nassau teems with Bahamian and British flavor. The capital city of the Bahamas boasts miles of spectacular beaches and stretches of vivid coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. Shop, dine, and sight-see, particularly along busy Bay Street, or if you’re a James Bond fan, visit the British Colonial Hotel, a filming location for two of the Sean Connery era movies.

DAY 5 MARCH 7 (Monday)
Port Everglades
Arrives 7:00 AM

Before leaving South Florida, consider taking time to visit the Florida Everglades for a thrilling afternoon gliding in a high-speed airboat. Visit one of Florida’s beautiful beaches or head to the Museum of Discovery and Science located in Fort Lauderdale.

It is one of the largest museums of its kind in Florida, and has the most visitors of any museum in the state. The museum features its own AutoNation IMAX theater. The museum features a number of “ecoscapes”, as well as a simulated ride to Mars, a simulated airboat ride in the Everglades and a MaxFlight airplane simulator. Visitors are allowed to get quite close to the animal life such as otters, baby alligators, turtles, and a sea turtles.
